THE monitor calibration and profiling solution, the basICColor display software has been rewritten from the ground up with many improvements.

NOTES: Version 6 is the new standard version. Upgrades from past basICColor Display versions (3, 4, 5) are no longer provided. New licenses of v6 can only be purchased. Furthermore, support for any past basICColor Display version (prior to v6) has been terminated.

The 6th generation of the leading application for the calibration and ICC profiling of monitors has been drastically simplified with further extended functionality. Prefabricated workflows cover the common requirements for calibration settings. The integrated editor allows the creation of any default settings and thus enables even complex tasks of monitor calibration and profiling as well as light setting and checking to be carried out with a click of the mouse. basICColor display 6 is the most comprehensive and most professional, as well as the easiest to use software of its kind.

Notable Features

Hardware calibration

    Supported monitors are hardware-calibrated fully automatically. This ensures the highest precision for brightness, black level, color temperature and gray balance. Any color space can be emulated on suitable monitors using 3D look-up tables. This means that color-correct applications can also be used (video editing, web design, medical applications and more).

Monitor Review

    The monitor can be checked automatically after each calibration. This eliminates measurement errors (caused by screen savers etc.) during calibration.

    Via a control field, created profiles and the associated LUTs can be switched at any time in the monitor without starting basICColor display 6. Upon request, basICColor display 6 reminds you to check the monitor regularly at freely selectable intervals. The check or recalibration can be started with a mouse click from the control panel.

Regulate standard light
    basICColor display 6 checks ambient light and standard light stations for compliance with applicable standards. Suitable standard lighting devices are even controlled fully automatically so that they are optimally matched to the monitor brightness. Result: Softproof and supervision template are identical!
Monitors Supported

  • Four classes (monitors) of embedded hardware calibrations are supported: Eizo ColorEdge, NEC MultiSync PA, BenQ PV270, Generic DDC.
      Some EIZO monitors have an integrated color sensor. basICColor display 6 supports these sensors, you do not need a separate instrument except for measuring ambient light or viewing light.
Hardware Calibration:
  • The PA series from NEC has 5 (or even 10) separate memory locations which are fully programmable. You can store your calibrations in any of them and retrieve them very quickly. This way you can switch between a softproof and a video setup in mere seconds, and any attached and calibrated viewing booth will automatically switch with it.
  • Some EIZO CG models have an integrated color sensor which basICColor display 6 takes full advantage of. Switching between different calibrations takes only seconds and any attached and calibrated viewing booth will automatically switch with it.
  • The BenQ PV270 has 2 memory locations (calibrations) which are fully programmable. You can store your calibrations in any of them and retrieve them very quickly. This way you can switch between a softproof and a video setup in mere seconds, and any attached and calibrated viewing booth will automatically switch with it.

System Requirements and Notes:
  • Supports monitor profiles in Mac OSX 10.12 thru 10.15, including Catalina. However, Apple no longer support LUT type display profiles. Although LUT display profiles are actually an advantage with some monitors, with a high-end hardware-calibration monitor you will see no drop in quality when using matrix-based profiles.
  • Since Mac OSX 10.12 Sierra, the user may be logged out if attempting to use LUT type monitor profiles. In any case the Icons and other elements on the desktop will look whacked and images in Apple's programs (e.g. Preview) will not be color correct. Wide-gamut displays are even worse and will show totally oversaturated colors. Therefore, in Mac OSX 10.12 and later v6 only makes Matrix type profiles. Ask Apple to fix this please.

        basIUCColor 6 also supports generic DDC on Macs, however, it is impossible to say which monitors react to that. Tested: Cinema HD (brightness only), Dell UP2516D (brightness and RGB gains), HP Dreamcolor (brightness and RGB gains), some LG monitors. BenQ SV271 pretends to support the protocol, but the screen doesnt change.
    •  Displays (software calibration):
        all other displays, LCD and CRT manual pre-calibration allows for setting the brightness and RGB gains  depending on monitor model  via OSD controls/Apple Monitor Control Panel, based on instrument readings.
